 Nora continued to be active with the Girl Guides in Whitehorse, being the District Commissioner for Yukon, Programme Commissioner and Guide Archivist. She was awarded the Medal of Merit and was named an honorary life member in 1980. Garside was a founding member of the Golden Age Society, Yukon Council on Aging, Church Heritage Society, Yukon Historical and Museums Association, and helped establish the Old Log Church Museum with Flo Whyard.
