 Linda McDonald grew up at Windid Lake, just outside Watson Lake. Her mother’s father came north during the gold rush and Watson Lake is named for him. When Linda was three, she had tuberculosis and was sent to a sanitorium in Edmonton with her older sister and father. Her father died when she was fourteen.
