 Selina Totty was born on the Yukon River at Old Station [Tanana], Alaska to parents Al and Margaret Mayo. She was baptised by Reverend V. C. Sim in 1884. The Mayo family lived at Forty Mile from around 1888 into the early 1890s.((University of Alaska, “Notes: Mayo Family.” Project Jukebox, 2019 website: http://jukebox.uaf.edu/Rampart/html/mayon.htm)) Selina lived with Bishop and Mrs. Bompas at nearby Buxton Mission for two or three years before 1895. The Bishop thought highly of her.((Marjorie E.
