| Reverend R. F. Wheeler served with the Anglican Church in the Yukon for seven years, four of them in Old Crow, and the last years at Watson Lake. In 1960, he moved on to Telegraph Creek, the first minister to be posted there for many years. In 1929, he became a member of the first training class of the Church Army in Canada. He served as a Church Army officer until WWII, when he joined the RCAF Medical Corps. He spent much of the war in Goose Bay, Labrador and was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. After the war, he entered St. Chad's College in Regina and then was ordained an Anglican deacon for the Diocese of Qu'Appelle. In 1948, he was sent to Wawota where he was priested in 1949 and continued as the rector until 1952 when he became the rector at Weyburn.((Old Log Church Museum, files.)) |

| | From 1953 to 1957, Rev. Wheeler was incumbent at Old Crow serving as parish priest and teacher. In 1957, Bishop Greenwood moved him to Watson Lake where he remained until 1960.((Old Log Church Museum, files.))
