Michael Joseph “Mike” Comadina (~1908 - 1973)

Dawson's first cocktail lounge opened in October 1951 at the Occidental Hotel and employed Mike and one other person.(("Arctic Brotherhood: social crossroads of the North." //The Whitehorse Star// (Whitehorse), 19 July 2002.)) Mike Comadina was elected mayor of Dawson from 1956 to 1961 [1960] when he resigned. He was re-elected in 1971.((Heritage Branch vertical files.)) Dawson received direct telephone and telegraph service with the world outside the Yukon in August 1960.
