Gordie Gee was raised in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. After high school he worked hauling oil-drilling equipment all over the prairies. He and his high-school sweetheart, Elaine Olson, were married in 1956 and they moved to Estevan. Gordie bought a truck and started building a company, Geordie’s Trucking. He and the family moved to Edmonton for seven years and then to Whitehorse in 1965, where they could see great opportunities for delivering goods for oil-drilling. Elaine always took an active part in the business and became the chief financial officer. The business became Yukon Freight Lines in 1972.
