George Eric Otis was born in Quebec and became a miner in the Dawson area.((WWI Reg. #2004591. September 25, 1916 in Dawson. Attestation Paper, Library and Archives Canada)) He was recruited by Captain George Black during the First World War and was in England in August 1917.((//Dawson Daily News// (Dawson), 17 August 1917.)) He was with Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry when he was killed in action at Passchendaele Ridge on October 30, 1917.((Michael Gates,// From the Klondike to Berlin: The Yukon in World War I.// Madeira Park B.C.: Harbour Publishing Co. Ltd. 2017: 107.))
