Charles Walters (1927 – 2018)
	
Charles Walters was born and raised in Antigua. He immigrated to Canada as a mature student to study theology at Emmanuel College, University of Saskatchewan. Following the completion of his theology degree and ordination, Reverend Walters served in the Anglican Diocese of Yukon and the Diocese of Athabasca.((“Remembering Reverend Charles Walters.” Squamish Anglican Church, 2021 website: https://www.squamishanglicanchurch.ca/news/remembering-rev-charles-walters.))

In 1963, Reverend Walters was a lay reader and vice principal at the Chooutla residential school.((Yukon Archives, Margaret Marsh fonds, 79/63b #65.)) He spearheaded the Army Cadet Corp in the Lesser Slave area and then went as chaplain to Cold Lake, Alberta, Nanaimo, Aldergrove, and North Vancouver in British Columbia. In 1980, he was transferred to the Diocese of New Westminster. He was rector at churches in Squamish (1980-87) and then Kitsilano.
