Arthur James Allen (1872 – 1917) Arthur Allen was born in London, England to parents John and May Allen. He immigrated to Canada and took up farming in Alberta. He was a miner in Dawson when he joined the Yukon Infantry in 1916.((Michael Gates, “Paying Homage to the Yukon fallen of World War I.” //Yukon News// (Whitehorse), 14 September 2018.)) He owned claims No. 29 Above Discovery on Rude Creek, and No. 37 Above Discovery on Dip Creek. His claims were declared free from cancellation while he was serving during the war.((Yukon Archives, GOV 1654, f.29600-B 3(7) )) Private Allen was a rifleman in D Company of the 231st Battalion.
