John Eugene "Jack" Arens. (1931 - 2003) Jack Arens was born in Bracken, Saskatchewan. He married Joan Marshall in 1952 in Lower Post. Shortly after that they moved from Watson Lake to Whitehorse where they started their family. In the Yukon, Jack was employed by MacGregor Power and Telegraph, a company that was instrumental in bringing telecommunications to the north. He was also employed by Northern Metallic and owned his own men's wear store. Jack was the original member of an entertainment group called "Earle's Platter Crackers." In 1964, Jack and Joan moved to Kamloops where their 8th child was born and Jack became a successful entrepreneur and businessman.
