Charles Sedley William Barwell (b. 1874) Charles Barwell was born in England.((Library and Archives Canada, Sergeant, WWI #2004504. 22 September 1916 at Dawson.)) He came into the Yukon River basin in 1897.((Yukon Archives, Otto Nordling fond 79/34.)) He was working as a surveyor and civil engineer in Dawson between 1901 and 1916. In 1902 he worked for Barwell-White-Fraser and in 1905 he worked for Barwell and Bond. At other times he ran his own company without partners.((Rasmussen Library, Alaska Yukon Gazetteers index, 1901 -1912.)) Barwell enlisted to serve in the First World War in September 1916.((Library and Archives Canada, Sergeant, WWI #2004504. 22 September 1916 at Dawson.))
