John Bremner (b. 1887) John Bremner was born in Scotland. He was a miner near Dawson when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.((Library and Archives Canada, attestation paper, WWI Reg #1015746. 10 July 1916 at Sidney.)) He returned to the Yukon after the war and in 1918 was working as an auto mechanic.((Yukon Archives, GOV 1654, 1(5).)) A meeting was held in Dawson on 18 May 1927 to affiliate the War Veterans Dawson Club with the Canadian Legion. Corporal John Bremner was listed as a member.((John Gould, “A Short Bit of History: Dawson Legion No.1.” Unpublished manuscript.)) In 1950, J. Bremner, his son, and one employee mined on Last Chance Creek using hydraulic equipment. He got water from ditches and from a diesel pump bringing water from the creek. They experienced a shortage of water during the season, and their 150.32 of recovered fine ounces was less than they recovered in 1949.((R.L.
