William Bell (b. 1872) William Bell was born in England.((Library and Archives Canada, Attestation Paper. WWI Reg. #1015535. July 1, 1916 at Sidney.)) He was a constable with the North-West Mounted Police in Dawson in 1905.((Rasmussen Library, //Polks Gazetteer// index, 1901 to 1912.)) In 1911 he was single and living with a parent at Steele Fork.((Canadian Census, 1911.)) He was mining in the Dawson area in 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.((Library and Archives Canada, Attestation Paper. WWI Reg. #1015535. July 1, 1916 at Sidney.)) He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.((//Dawson Daily News// (Dawson), 17 August 1917.)) He returned to the Yukon after the war and the Canadian Yukon Patriotic Fund loaned returned soldier W.
