Ambroise Corbeil may have come into the country with Frank Buteau in 1893.((//Empreinte: La Presence francophone au Yukon.// Tome 1. Whitehorse: Association franco-yukonnaise, 1997: 70.)) Corbeil was one of the first stakers in the 1901 Mayo District Duncan Creek stampede. In 1903, Corbeil was one of the stampeders who staked a claim on Edmonton Creek in the Mayo Lake region.((Linda E.T. MacDonald and Lynette R.
