James Austin Clarke (1880 – 1918)
	
James Clarke was born in Markdale, Ontario. He worked for Yukon Gold, and was a well-known teamster in Dawson. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Clarke bought a ticket to Prince Rupert and drowned when the //Princess Sophia// sank in the Lynn Canal.((The Maritime Museum of British Columbia, //SS Princess Sophia: Those Who Perished.// 2018: 49.))
