Rudy Couture Rudy Couture was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He and his wife Janet moved to Watson Lake in 1954. Couture worked at the Watson Lake Trading Post and was a founder and partner in the Yukon Self-Serve General Store. After that he held several positions in the municipal and territorial governments in Watson Lake, Faro, and Whitehorse. He was appointed as one of the first two Labour Standard Officers in the territory. In 2007, he was Sergeant-At-Arms in the Yukon Legislative Assembly. Couture volunteers at the Sacred Heart Parish, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Whitehorse Curling Club, Yukon Housing Corp, and various other organizations.(("Mr & Mrs Yukon." 2007 Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Program. 14 February 2007.)) The Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society voted Rudy and Janet Couture Mr. and Mrs. Yukon in 2007.(("Mr & Mrs Yukon." 2007 Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Program. 14 February 2007.)) Rudy Couture was inducted into the Order of the Yukon in January 2025.
