Harry Dundas (d. 1898) Harry Dundas was a member of the North-West Mounted Police stationed in the Yukon during the gold rush.(("More police coming." //Klondike Nugget// (Dawson), 12 July 1898.)) He came into the Yukon in June 1897 from Troop G at Fort Saskatchewan.(("Like a soldier they laid him to rest." //Klondike Nugget// (Dawson), 13 August 1898.)) Corporals Green, Cater, and Dundas were sent to the mouth of the Stewart River in July 1898 to form a detachment. One of their duties was to receive and distribute mail.(("More police coming." //Klondike Nugget// (Dawson), 12 July 1898.)) Dundas contracted typhoid fever at the Stewart post. He was a popular man and his fellow officers stayed up with him day and night until he died. He was scheduled to go out of the Yukon that summer.(("Died at the Barracks." //Klondike Nugget// (Dawson), 6 August 1898.)) Harry Dundas was buried with military honours in August 1898. A procession formed at the Dawson barracks and moved to the graveyard on the hill.(("Like a soldier they laid him to rest." //Klondike Nugget// (Dawson), 13 August 1898.))
