Joseph Devine (b. 1871) Joseph Devine was born in Ireland.((Library and Archives Canada, Attestation Paper, WWI Reg. #2004525. 3 October 1916 at Dawson.)) He was single and living in lower Hunker Creek in 1911.((1911 Canadian Census.)) He was a placer and quartz miner on Sulphur Creek in October 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.((Library and Archives Canada, Attestation Paper, WWI Reg. #2004525. 3 October 1916 at Dawson.))
