Allen Falle (1943 – 2022) Al Falle was born in Gaspe, Quebec. He was elected to the Yukon progressive Conservative Party in 1978 with the arrival of party politics in the Yukon. He helped shape the party, the precursor to today’s Yukon Party. He won a second term for the Hootalinqua riding in 1982 and retired in 1985.((“Former Yukon MLA Al Falle dies.” //Whitehorse Star// (Whitehorse), 29 November 2022.)) Allen and Irma Falle moved to some undeveloped land outside of the Whitehorse city limits in 1972. Allen turned 150 acres of trees and peat bog into the Sourdough Sodbusters farm. It opened for business in the spring of 1985 to provide residents and landscapers with high quality sod grown specifically to thrive in extreme northern temperatures. Ray Falle, their oldest son, returned from working in forestry in British Columbia to manage the business with his wife Vanessa.((//The Plough Boy.// Yukon Agricultural Association newsletter, Summer 2008.)) Falle remained actively involved on the Board of the Yukon Party Lake Laberge Electoral District Association until his passing. He was a well-respected member of Yukon’s farming community and served as president of the Yukon Agricultural Association.
