Erik Fairclough (b. 1962) Erik Fairclough was born in Whitehorse. He was the chief of the Little Salmon First Nation from 1990 to 1996. In September 1996, he was elected to the Yukon legislature for the Yukon Democratic Party (NDP) in Mayo-Tatchum. He was the Minister of Renewable Resources in Piers McDonald’s government from October 1996 to May 2000. Fairclough and McRobb did join the Liberal caucus and Hardy’s New Democrats were reduced to third party status, while the Yukon Liberals became the official opposition.
