James Gillies (b. 1881) James Gillies was born in Scotland. He served twelve years with the North-West Mounted Police / Royal North-West Mounted Police (RNWMP).((Library and Archives Canada, Attestation Paper. (WWI Reg. #1015559. July 1, 1916 in Sidney.)) He was a RNWMP constable in Dawson from 1905 to 1910 and a corporal in Dawson from 1911 to 1910.((//Alaska Yukon Gazetteers 1901 to 1912// index. Rasmussen Library.)) Gillie was working as a miner in the Dawson area when he enlisted in 1916 to serve in the First World War.
