Reginald Gilbert (1889 - 1917) Reginald Gilbert was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He worked as a lineman and served with the 5th Canadian Garrison Artillery. He enlisted to serve in the First World War in June 1915 and joined the Yukon Motor Machine Gun Battery. In February 1916, he was attached to Lord Strathcona’s Horse and re-joined the Yukon Battery in July. He was deployed to France with the unit in August. Gilbert was wounded during an attack at Fresnoy, in the Ypres Salient and died of his wounds. He was awarded the British War Medal and Allied Victory Medal.((D. His name is engraved into the stone base of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France.
