Don Hutton Don Hutton was born in the Yukon and raised in Mayo by his parents Irene and Oliver Hutton. Don began a 34-year career as a wildland firefighter in the later 1970s. He became a Resource Management Officer with the federal government until a secondment in 1996 allowed him to work with the Na-Cho Nyak Dun First Nation (NND) in setting up their Lands and Resources Department. Hutton became involved in municipal politics in the 1980s and served first as a Mayo councillor and then as mayor. After devolution, Hutton transferred to the Yukon Government and ended his career as Zone Protection Manager for Yukon Wildland Fire management. Hutton retired in 2013 and took a one-year contract as Director of the NND Lands and Resources Department. He was first elected as a Liberal to the Yukon Legislature for the Mayo-Tatchun district in November 2016.
