Grace Elsie Haldenby, nee Hearne (1920 - 2010) Grace Haldenby was the wife of Reverend Allan Haldenby, the rector in Dawson from 1954 into the 1960s.(("Obituary - Haldenby, Reverend Allan Edward." //The Klondike Sun// (Dawson), 3 December 2002; “The Anglican Church in Yukon.” Old Log Church Museum vertical files.)) She was musically gifted and directed the choir and taught piano lessons. She led the formation of the Junior Auxiliary and Girls Auxiliary for Dawson girls and organized the Little Helpers program in the church. During the Haldenby's time in Dawson, the government withdrew its support for the teacher's position at Moosehide and lots of people came into Dawson and lived in abandoned houses from the gold rush. Grace was involved with the St. Barnabas Women's Auxiliary (WA) as well as running the WA at St. Paul's.((Ken Snider, "Remembering Grace Haldenby." //The Klondike Sun// (Dawson), 10 February 2010."))
