Robert Hughes (1869 – 1955) Methodist minister Robert Hughes was transferred from Nanaimo to Dawson in 1902. He held street meetings after his regular Sunday service and they proved so successful that he moved the gathering into a theatre after the weather turned cold. The management offered his location for free and also paid for the light and heat.((“The Early Methodist Church in the Yukon.” Unpublished paper, Old Log Church Museum files.)) A photograph album created by Robert and Minnie Hughes in Dawson between 1905 and 1906 is held at the United Church of Canada Archives. There is photo of their cabin at Caribou on Dominion Creek and also a photo of the Midnight Dome service.((United Church of Canada Archives, ref. code CA ON00340 F3762-1986.363P/1)) Rev. R.W. Hibbet took over the Dawson Methodist ministry in 1911.
