Frederick John Johnson (b.1881) Fred Johnson was born in England.((Library and Archives Canada, WWI Reg. #1015568. June 23, 1916 in Victoria. Attestation Paper.)) He staked discovery claim on Johnson Creek, a trib. of the McQuesten River, in 1898. About thirty-eight men stampeded in the fall and stayed there for the winter but high water in the shafts discouraged them.
