Geoffrey Thomas Jacobs (b. 1965) Geoff Jacobs was born in Reefton, New Zealand, a small town on the west coast. He was the son of a gold miner. Goeff has mined in Alaska, Malaysia, Mongolia, and Dawson, Yukon.((“Interview with Geoff (Geoffrey) Jacobs.” The interview was conducted by Helen Bollinger in 2006 and is held at the National Library of New Zealand. Hidden Treasure mining on the Reefton goldfields oral history project, 2024 website: Interview with Geoff (Geoffrey) Jacobs | Items | National Library of New Zealand | National Library of New Zealand (natlib.govt.nz) ))\\ Geoff mined at two locations near Dawson. He was on the Lousetown bench and on a bench of the Hunker from 2000-2003. At Lousetown [Tro'jek], he contoured the entire face for stability and safety by filling and removing waste. The Hunker bench had been mined by others and Jacobs restored the disturbance by cleaning up and recontouring the site and surrounding area. He removed fuel containers and oil pails and used organic soil and root mixes to promote natural vegetation. In 2003, Geoffrey Jacobs received honourable mention for the Robert E. Leckie Award for outstanding Placer Mining Reclamation Practices.(("Honourable Mention." //The Whitehorse Star// (Whitehorse), 21 November 2003.))
