Halmer Johnson (b. 1884) Halmer Johnson was born in Finland.((Reg WWI Reg. # 2140277. Drafted February 6, 1918. Library and Archives Canada.)) Helmer [sic] Johnson was mining on Quartz Creek in the Klondike around 1910.((Linda E.T. MacDonald and Lynette R. Bleiler, //Gold & Galena.// Mayo Historical Society, 1990: 394.)) He was a construction foreman in 1918 when he was drafted for service in the First World War.((Reg WWI Reg. # 2140277. Drafted February 6, 1918. Library and Archives Canada.)) On July 4, 1918, his claim on the lower half discovery on the right fork of Last Chance Creek and claims 25 and 25A above on Last Chance were held free from cancellation for the duration of the war.((Yukon Archives, GOV 1654, f.29600-B 6(7).))
