Jacob "Jakie" Kline (d. 1959) Jakie Kline was born in Philadelphia. He was a well-known dog musher, famous for a very fast trip between Dawson and Skagway, Alaska. In 1900, "One-eyed" Riley, a famous Dawson gambler, won $28,000 in one night. Deciding to leave town, he paid Jakie $600 to take him to Skagway and Jakie’s round trip took ten days, said to be a record. Jakie was elected Sourdough honorary vice-president at Long Beach, California in August 1959 and he died two months later.((Walter R.
