Takuma Kajiwara (1876 - 1960) Takuma Kajiwara was born in Fukuoka, Japan.((“Takuma Kajawara.” //Wikipedia,// 2019 website: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takuma_Kajiwara)) He came to America around 1894. By 1897 he was working for W.F. Boyd in Seattle as a photo technician and in 1898 he was listed as a photographer. Kajiwara briefly returned to Japan and organized photography clubs at the request of the government. When he returned to the United States, he worked in St. Louis for a company that made photographic plates, taking charge of their studio at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. He opened his own studio shortly after, and located it in the Century Building in 1914. He became known as one of the seven greatest American photographers, and one of the two best known portraitists of his day in St. Louis.
