Narcisse Alfred “Fred” Lefebvre (~1861 – 1941) Fred Lefebvre and partner Gene Binet operated a sawmill in at the mouth of the Mayo River, in Mayo, from 1900 to 1940. Lefebvre and Isaac Mallerte mined a gold claim on Secret Creek in the Mayo District from 1911 to 1914. In 1938, Bob Palmer bought Binet’s interest in the sawmill and the name changed from Binet and Lefebvre to Mayo Lumber Mills.((Linda E.T. MacDonald and Lynette R.
