D. A. Muirhead Muirhead started working for the White Pass & Yukon Route in 1913 and rose to the position of assistant superintendent. He and his wife married in 1921. She came to Whitehorse in 1919 to teach the primary grade at the local school.((//The Whitehorse Star// (Whitehorse), 18 January 1946.)) In 1940, the Whitehorse IODE acquired the historic Sam McGee’s Cabin through a donation from Mr. Muirhead. He expected it to be used as a museum.
