Mike Murray prospected on the Stewart River above Lansing and in the Rogue River country in the early 1900s.((R. C. Coutts, //Yukon: Places & Names.// Sidney, B. C.: Gray’s Publishing Ltd. 1980.)) Murray found fine gold ten miles further up the south fork of the Stewart River in 1904.((//The Yukon Sun// (Dawson), 12 January 1904.)) Murray died of exposure at Donjek in February 1914.
