Moria MacGregor, nee Beattie Moria MacGregor was born in the Yukon to parents Pete and Mary Beattie. Moria was working a trap line alone when she was six years old. By the time she was in grade seven she was strong enough to break her own trails and independent enough to check the trap lines. She was home-schooled for many years but as she grew older, the family spent more time in town, sometimes in winter for school and sometimes in winter to socialize and work. The lifestyle made MacGregor into a world-class bike rider. During the Tour de PEI bike race in 2006 MacGregor braved nasty winds better than her competitors because of her years working dogs in the Yukon winters. MacGregor placed third and she was the top Canadian. The race qualified her to represent Canada in the south of France in 2007.((Michele Moreau, "Trapper enjoyed their 'own little Utopia.'" //How's Business Yukon,// 12 October 2007.))
