McKay The McKay brothers were running a freighting business in Dawson in 1899. The river froze suddenly that year and a number of scows were trapped in the ice along the Yukon River. The goods were removed from the scows and cached along the shore to be transported to Dawson by teams of horses. The McKay Brothers cache was located on the west side of the river about five miles south of Old Minto, the location of Fussell’s roadhouse. The murders committed by George O’Brien occurred not too far from this cache.((Gord Allison, “The Christmas Day Murders – Part 1 (Background and Context).” 20 March 2019. //Welcome to Yukon History Trails,// 2019 website: https://yukonhistorytrails.com/2019/03/29/the-christmas-day-murders-part-1-background-and-context/))
