Russell Clarence McCollom (1871 – 1919) Russell Clarence McCollom was born in Dunnville, Ontario. He was working as a steam engineer and miner in Dawson when he enlisted in October 1916 for service in the First World War. He joined the 7th Reserve Battalion in England and was transferred to the Canadian Machine Gun Depot and then the 17th Canadian Machine Gun Company. He landed in France in April 1918 where he transferred to the 2nd Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade. After the war he joined the Canadian army of occupation at Bonn, Germany. In December he was evacuated to No. 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station where he died of bronchial Pneumonia. He is buried in Brussels Town Cemetery in Belgium.((D.
