Daisy Nordling (1922 – 2025) Daisy Nordling came to Dawson in the winter of 1949 to take a position with the federal government. She was quick to become part of the community, meeting and marrying Axel Nordling and raising three children: Ralph, Alan and Pat. In the early 1960s, she performed on the stage of the Palace Grand as “The Lady that’s known as Lou.” She taught typing and bookkeeping at the school, ran the public library and sat on the municipal council.((“Daisy Nordling.” //Yukon News// (Whitehorse), 19 September 2025.)) D. Nordling was acting mayor of Dawson in 1973. Albert Fuhre is recorded as the mayor in that year.((Yukon Historic Sites files)) Daisy moved to Vancouver when Axl died in 1976 but frequently visited the Yukon. She travelled the world but still had time to write the newsletter for the Vancouver Yukoners Association. She talked about her life in the north to the end and will be buried in Dawson with Axel in the Yukon Order of Pioneers cemetery.((“Daisy Nordling.” //Yukon News// (Whitehorse), 19 September 2025.))
