Tommy Nakashima Sr. (1909 - 1992) Tommy Nakashima Sr. was born in Japan and immigrated to Canada in 1931. He arrived in Whitehorse in 1941 and in 1945 he went to Dawson where he settled and raised a family.((“Tommy Nakashima Sr.” //The Klondike Sun,// 14 May 1992.)) He and wife Ayiko had four children: Tommy Jr., Ted, Nelson, and Lucy [1935 – 1942]. Tommy was a cook at the Arcade Café and then he cooked at the Yukon Consolidated Gold Corp. He was also a carpenter. Tommy Nakashima was a member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers and was well respected in the community.
