Andrew Oleson staked the Little Chief claim in the Whitehorse Copper Belt on September 15, 1898.((Helene Dobrowolsky and Rob Ingram, "A History of the Whitehorse Copper Belt". DIAND Open File 1993-1 (1).)) The Little Chief deposit proved to be the largest orebody in the copper belt but received little work during the early 1900s.
