Frances Oles Frances Oles grew up in Champagne is a descendant of the Chambers/Dickson families and the Jim Smith/Fanny Jim family from Whitehorse/Lake Laberge. Oles was the Heritage Program Manager and Heritage Resources Manager for Champagne and Aishihik First Nations (CAFN). She worked with CAFN elders practicing and learning hide tanning, quill work and decorative surface applications with paint, seeds, bone and horn. Upon retirement she became a full-time artist working with traditional media plus watercolour, oils, acrylics, wood and stone. Her works are on display in the Da Ku Cultural Centre in Haines Junction, and in private collections in Canada and Switzerland.
