Joshua Phillpotts (b. 1929) Joshua Phillpotts was born in Jamaica where he attended St. Peter’s Theological College. He was ordained an Anglican minister in 1958. Phillpotts was interested in missionary work, so he also studied blacksmithing, woodworking, and engineering drafting and design at Jamaica Government Technical College. Joshua and Yvonne were married in 1954. She was an accredited nurse and midwife.((“Phillpotts Family.” Hidden Histories Society Yukon, 2019 website: http://hhsy.org/projects/phillpotts-family/)) In 1965, the Phillpotts accepted an offer from Bishop Henry Marsh to minister at the St. John the Baptist Church in Watson Lake. Yvonne went to work at the community clinic. Joshua travelled widely in the Watson Lake region, became president of the Watson Lake Home and School Association. He was the Yukon Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of Canada and a volunteer teacher for St. Johns Ambulance. Yvonne worked at the Whitehorse hospital.
