William Ryder (b. 1871) William Ryder was born in England. When he enlisted for service in the First World War, he was a miner on Miller Creek.((Reg WWI Reg. # 2004606. 27 September 1916 in Dawson. Attestation Paper, Library and Archives Canada.)) He owned claim No. 4 Above Discovery. An undivided interest was being worked by Mr. Bungate, Ryder’s partner, and a layman who was paying Ryder a percentage.((Yukon Archives, GOV 1654, f.29600-B 5(7) )) Ryder returned to the Yukon in March 1919.((Yukon Archives, GOV 1654.)) He registered for light work employment with the Department of Soldiers’ Civil Re-Enlistment in March 1920. A June 1920 report shows that the Department of Soldiers’ Civil Re-Establishment helped W. Ryder applying for $100 to return to England.
