Ed Sumner (b. 1937) Ed Summer was named Whitehorse’s 2012 Volunteer of the Year in April 2013. Summer joined the Grey Mountain Lions Club in 1980 and has served as president, vice-president, and director and coordinator of community programs. He has been the zone chairman and vice-governor on the Yukon/Alaska level and has helped several clubs in the district. Summer was president and coach of Whitehorse Minor Softball from 1971 to 1977. He was a school council member at Whitehorse Elementary from 1971 to 1975. He was club president for the Takhini Recreation Centre and Curling Club from 1972 to 1976. He was a member and team handler for the Yukon Dog Mushers from 1973 to 1979.
