James “Jamie” Shaw (1974 – 2018) Jamie Shaw’s grandmother and mother were teachers in the Yukon. Jamie always had a love of sports. As a youth he went to the Arctic Winter Games as a basketball player. He also played hockey and practiced martial arts. Jamie Shaw taught physical education in Maryland at a private school and in France, Washington D.C., Calgary, and eventually returned to the Yukon. He was the athletic director at F.H. Collins from 2007 to 2016 when he became the vice principal. He coached many Team Yukon men and women at the Canada Games, Western Canada Games, and the Arctic Winter Games as well many local, regional, and national level games in basketball and athletics. He mentored many coaches who are now coaching in various communities in the Yukon.
