Mary Sloan Mary Sloan was born in Michigan. In 1979 she and her family moved to Pelly Crossing and she worked as a teacher. Two years later the family moved to Watson Lake and Mary helped to run after-school theatre programs and produced everything from plays to medieval banquets. Her Mime Time group went to Expo '86 and performed outside the Yukon pavilion. After moving to Whitehorse, Mary became involved with the Golden Horn Musical Theatre, the Yukon Arts Centre, the Whitehorse Drama Club, the Guild, Theatre Nakai and Gwaandak Theatre, among others. Mary Sloan has made a lasting mark on the Yukon arts education and the theatre community. After retirement she continued to mentor, act and support youth in the arts.
