Sven “Fred” Swanson (~1885 – 1940) Fred Swanson was a miner in the Mayo area in 1915-16.((Linda E.T. MacDonald and Lynette R. Bleiler, //Gold & Galena.// Mayo Historical Society, 1990: 459.)) He started trapping in the area about 1920.((//The Whitehorse Star// (Whitehorse), 25 October 1940.)) He took over Bob Levac's trading post at Fraser Falls around 1937 and owned a cabin in Mayo.((Linda E.T. MacDonald and Lynette R. Bleiler, //Gold & Galena.// Mayo Historical Society, 1990: 459.)) In October 1940, he was travelling to his winter cabin at No Gold, five miles above Fraser Falls, when his rifle accidentally discharged.
