Harold Upton Harold Upton was a truck driver involved in hauling for mines and in bulk hauls. In 1986 he helped to develop an air ride system for trailers used in the Faro ore haul. The system lowered the impact on Yukon highways and resulted in a sixty percent decrease in tire wear. He also redesigned the ore trailer to a ten-axle combination that increased payloads and efficiency, and lowered transportation costs. Harold Upton was named the 2014 Transportation Person of the Year and inducted in the Yukon Transportation Hall of Fame.((“Northern pioneers get recognition.” Today’s Trucking, 2020 website: https://www.trucknews.com/transportation/northern-pioneers-get-recognition/1003119767/.))
