Emma Louise Wilson Emma Wilson bought the Miner’s Rest Hotel in Dawson in 1934 when her Yukon Hotel was damaged in a fire. She moved her business to the Miner’s Rest and renamed it the Yukon Hotel. She operated the hotel until she became ill in 1957. There was a murder committed from this hotel when a man shot John Sipkus from a hotel window. Martin Victor, an American living in Fairbanks, bought the hotel from Wilson’s estate and planned to operate a museum in the building.((Victoria Faulkner, "Historic Buildings."
