James Nevin Wallace (1870 – 1941) James Wallace was born in Dublin, Ireland. He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin with a bachelor of arts and a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He came to Canada in 1895 and became an Ontario Land Surveyor in 1898, and a Dominion Land Surveyor in 1900.((“James Wallace.“ //Wikipedia,// 2019 website: http://albertalandsurveyhistory.ca/index.php?title=James_Nevin_Wallace)) Mount Nevin, on the Yukon/British Columbia border, was adopted in 1909 and confirmed in 1980. Nevin Wallace surveyed the mountain in 1908. It is the highest summit crossed during the two seasons of Wallace’s survey. James Wallace was a member of the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association in 1911, and that year was put in charge of the Levelling Office of the Topographical Survey of Canada. He remained in this position until his work was transferred to Ottawa in 1925.
