Alice Boland

Alice Boland of Carmacks was awarded the 2010 Yukon Farmer of the Year for her outstanding contribution to agriculture and agri-business in the Yukon. She has been involved for eleven years with the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation Farming Venture. It started as a market garden pilot project and now includes a community root cellar and green house and continues to promote local food production using organic methods. In 2010, Boland was managing crop production and sales at the community greenhouse and the distribution of fresh produce to Elders, single parents, and the disabled.1)
